And forget not about Marcus Smart. He was the glue, yeah, he did not make the flashiest game. He is that long-serving leader who does all that is not captured in the stat sheet. His individual performance was 9 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals, yet to be honest, his defense was outstanding. Smart was omnipresent, getting into passing lanes and life was no longer easy for the shooters of the Pacers. He does not have to get 20 points to get a point across; his disruptive skills to neutralize an opposing team’s offence are gigantic to the Celtics.
Al Horford is not something that we can forget about now. Ay and he is not as flashy as he was, but by God, when it was wanted to make a splash, you could rely on Horford when the Celtics wanted it. He struck a couple of opportunistic threes that actually contributed to the increase in the lead of the Celtics. He has that old soldierly composure of putting things in their place.
The Celtics were simply in the spirit of a team that was well tied in, you see?
Their stream of offense ran smoothly and on the side, they were simply bottlenecking anything that the Pacers attempted to accomplish. They played the ball like a machine that was well-oiled, and all the players on the floor were contributing in one way or the other. With that depth and talent there is no stopping it.
